Where Every Story Matters - Spotlighting Women - Minorities - Culture.

Hanashi Films, a documentary film production company, was established by Hanna Aqvilin and Shiori Ito.

The company's name, a creative fusion forming 'Hana|shi' which signifies 'story' in Japanese, reflects the core mission of our work. With its foundations in both Japan and Sweden, we are dedicated to crafting documentaries that give voice to women and individuals from minority communities. We have expertise in conducting international co-productions across Japan and Europe.

Shiori Ito's award-winning documentary Black Box Diaries, premiered at Sundance 2024 and is being distributed by Dogwoof, and MTV Docs in the US.
